Parkers Tavern

Parker’s Tavern is a quintessentially English brasserie on the ground floor of
the University Arms.

Chef Director, Tristan Welch has designed every dish to be a whimsical re-imagining of a British classic, sourced from field, fen and England’s seas. This is where you will find plates piled high with Norfolk fruits de mer, or in winter, suckling pig with wild mushrooms, and Tristan’s special Spaghetti Bolognaise. You can taste England on every plate.

Afternoon Tea

Cambridge has given the world more great literature per square mile than perhaps any other city on earth. In their time, preeminent authors have paced along every side street, canal path and cobbled courtyard.

Afternoon tea at Parker’s Tavern is inspired by the city’s literary legacy, inflected with a maverick chef’s creative passion. Amongst the bookshelves and shades of Cambridge blue, waiters come laden with trays of savouries and jaunty cakes.

The Bar

As an old coaching inn, Parker’s Tavern has been a meeting spot for over a hundred years. The inventiveness of our cocktail list is matched only by a famously well-stocked wine cellar.

Then and now, the Bar is a place where meetings are concluded with a round of drinks, where stories are told late into the evening in the company of friends and stiff nightcaps.

Parker’s Picnic

Parker’s Picnics, Paniers and Punting Hampers take the whimsical charm of a Parker’s Tavern meal into the streets, parks and punts of Cambridge. Chef Director, Tristan Welch delivers classics alongside pleasing culinary curiosities.

Picnics are a national institution, taken to new heights by a Cambridge chef with European pedigree. Influenced by childhood memories of family outings in Cambridge. Informed by his experience as a chef at a three-Michelin-starred Parisian restaurant.

Local Area

Cambridge is the destination of choice for the perfect Spring city staycation, and easily accessible by car or train. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the city itself is home to glorious parks, historic colleges and renowned punting on the river Cam.

For over 175 years, University Arms has been the destination for travellers to rest their heads after long journeys for vacations in Cambridgeshire and beyond. Evolving over time, we remain a location of unparalleled character, service, glamour and luxury.
