The area is the perfect place for those who wish to relax in peace and quiet, surrounded by verdant landscapes where vines and olive trees abound, and where picturesque hamlets and cities famed for art and culture are all in easy reach.
It takes just a few minutes to reach the ancient Etruscan city of Cortona. A hamlet in the middle ages, all of its beauty has been preserved as have the Etruscan walls that were built to protect the city. Cortona overlooks the Val di Chiana.
Cortona is a wonderful city to explore. You can stroll through its historical streets or visit its many renowned historical sites; the Piazza della Republica and the town hall, the city cathedral, the Diocesan museum exhibiting works of Beato Angelico and Luca Signorelli, the Santa Margherita church and the Franciscan Sanctuary delle Celle both of which situated just outside of Cortona.
The Relais is located close to many of Tuscany and Umbria’s most famous destinations. Guests can experience the beauty of Val di Chiana and Lake Trasimeno or visit Arezzo and Pienza famous for its cheese, the cities of Montepulciano and Montalcino renowned around the world for the Nobile and Brunello wines.
Only and an hour’s drive from the residence are the historic cities of Siena and San Gimignano; the historical and beautiful untouched countryside of the Chianti region.
The city of Florence is just an hour away by car or train. Spend a day exploring the city known as the birthplace of the Renaissance – be seduced by the beauty of its architecture and art.
Around 50 km south east of the residence are the beautiful and historic towns of Perugia, Assisi, Spello, Gubbio, Spoleto and Todi, all of which nestle in gorgeous countryside. Visit museums, churches and cloisters or experience one of several music festivals including “Umbria Jazz” and “Dei due Mondi.
