Why stay in a luxury safari lodge in Kenya when you can enjoy the privacy and flexibility of an exclusive family home with a friendly team to cater to your every need? Lengishu offers the freedom to choose your own itinerary, not bound by the constraints of other safari lodges. From private Bog Five wildlife encounters to mountain biking excursions, picnics, and helicopter trips.

Lengishu is built with locally sourced materials and designed to blend in with the surrounding environment. Expertly crafted by local artisans, the house features beautiful exposed Kenyan timber work, while stone for the floors and intricate design features were excavated from the site itself. The interiors are tastefully decorated in neutral tones with splashes of red in a nod to the owner’s Scottish heritage and that of their neighbours, the Maasai community.

Each of the six bedrooms is spacious, with fireplaces or wood-burning stoves for cooler evenings, and has an en-suite bathroom with a rain shower and freestanding copper bathtub. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide majestic views of the undulating plains beyond, perfect for bathtub game viewing.

With a gym, heated pool, a multitude of private dining areas, and a fleet of modified Land Rover safari cars, Lengishu is family-friendly and adventurous.

Our top activities include:

Unforgettable game drives across the spectacular Borana Conservancy in Lengishu’s custom-designed, four-wheel-drive vehicles guarantee comfort and exceptional game viewing. As Borana is a private conservation area, exclusivity is guaranteed, meaning game drives are personal, peaceful, and uninterrupted. Guests will be driven by our expertly trained guiding team. The best time to view wildlife is in the mornings or afternoons, and Big 5 game viewing is great year-round. Night game drives can be arranged and will give guests the opportunity to meet nocturnal birds and animals such as porcupines, honey badgers, and leopards.

Help with Borana Conservancy’s conservation efforts and join the team of rangers who track both black and white rhino on foot. The team set out every morning to find and account for each rhino on the conservancy. You will learn how to track rhinos, how to identify each individual, and how to safely move through the bush on foot. This unique experience gives a true behind-the-scenes insight into how the conservancy keeps rhinos safe.

Enjoy a two-hour bush walk to the original Pride Rock, where Disney’s Lion King animators took their inspiration. This beautiful rock formation is found at the centre of the conservancy, with spectacular views deep into the Northern Frontier.

Not many experiences are more memorable, or quite as Kenyan, as breakfast in the bush at one of Lengishus’ private chosen spots. A set table will welcome you after your morning activity, and breakfast will be cooked in front of you by Head Chef Sam and his team. Expect bush Benedict, local fresh fruit, and an unforgettable backdrop.
