Cotswolds

Built around a 17th century farmhouse, Dormy House is a lesson in fine design. It’s only when you step inside that you begin to understand what the Dormy is really about. Contemporary design meets Cotswold chic. It’s a relaxing place where you’re encouraged to put your feet up. After all, isn’t that what furniture is really for?

We’ve teamed-up with Britain’s hottest designers to create something rather special in the heart of the Cotswolds with sumptuous interiors created by Todhunter Earle we’ve thought of everything, and that includes a sparkling new health spa designed by award winning Spa designers Sparcstudio.

House Spa has  a serious mission and a light-hearted touch.  (Signs remind you to “Switch off your mobile phone and come to your senses.”)   A team of highly-trained staff is dedicated to the complex demands of the modern leisure guest.  Indulgent treatments are designed to bring noticeable health benefits; and you will be able to swim and gym to your heart’s content.

Food and Drink

The Potting Shed

Long, lazy brunches and lunches rolling into an evening of light bites, The Potting Shed is a relaxed space to eat and drink and tuck into faff-free, seasonal lighter dishes, freshly prepared in the Dormy kitchen.

At the Potting Shed, we like simple things prepared with passion and served with flair. Do brunch and tuck into Smoked salmon and crumpets with creamy scrambled eggs and chives or join us for lunch and dig into seared fillet of salmon, rainbow chard and a lemon butter sauce. Or for something lighter in the evenings then pick a couple of dishes from our grazing menu where hand-raised pork pies and mushroom arancini with truffle mayo are on the cards. The menus change with the season, so there’s always something new to get your teeth into.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the sun terrace section of the Potting Shed.

The Back Garden

Locally sourced, naturally inspired, inventively prepared

The Back Garden is a celebration of the finest ingredients from the land on our doorstep – high-welfare rare-breed meats, veg grown in our own gardens and responsibly cultivated grains – all sourced and served in tune with the rhythms of nature.

MO

A brand new intimate dining experience where our chefs unleash their cutting-edge culinary skills.

MO showcases creative cooking, unexpected ingredients, forward-thinking culinary techniques, and just a hint of food theatre, MO, a chefs table style experience, offers a unique, interactive 8-course tasting-menu experience to just 8 guests at a time (booked either individually or as a group with everyone sitting down at 7.30pm). Here too, sustainability and seasonality will be centre-stage, and each dish will give a starring role to whichever ingredients are at their best.

We want all of our guests to enjoy MO and its unique dining experience without having to worry about little eyes and ears, therefore, we ask that it’s an adults only affair.

Afternoon Tea

Tuck into a selection of perfectly trimmed sandwiches including coronation chicken, cucumber and cream cheese, cheese and tomato chutney and smoked salmon, lemon creme fraiche and capers. Followed by banoffee tart, key lime macaron, chocolate jaffa cake,  lemon drizzle cake as well as the must-have at any afternoon tea set-up scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam.

They run cooking classes every day from Wednesday to Sunday and garden workshops in everything from foraging to floristry every weekend.

Pop to the Palace

Around 40 minutes’ drive from Farncombe, Blenheim Palace, makes for a great day out whether you’re interested in architecture, art, or history. Take a punt in Oxford

Head to Magdalen Bridge Boathouse and either hire a chauffeur and sit back and watch the world float by, or pick up a pole and put your own punting panache to the test. The route south down the Cherwell past the botanic gardens and through the Christ Church College Meadows and the Magdalen School rose garden is simply sublime

Browse the Boutiques

Shopaholic or not, Bicester Village is a treat. Some of the biggest designer names have outlet boutiques lining the boulevards of Bicester, meaning you can pick up pieces from brands such as Vivienne Westwood Gucci, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Mulberry and more – all for a fraction of the usual price.

Gin Tour

Gin is definitely the drink of the moment and we’re rather partial to the botanical blends of our local Cotswolds Distillery, not far from the Estate in Stourton. They run regular, pre-booked tours that introduce you to their distilling methods, topped off with a tasting session.

Wellness

House Spa

While there’s a time and a place for oneness and wellbeing, House Spa is all about making you feel absolutely fabulous. The House Spa has been winning awards since the day it opened, offering guests an indoor/outdoor blend of soothing therapies, serene pool, terrace hot tub, and Scandi-style thermal suite.

But be warned: The Dormy brand of well-being can be highly addictive…

Individual spa treatments are only bookable for guests staying at the hotel. Non-resident guests are more than welcome to book one of our spa days.

The Bathing Room

Lined with comfy loungers and atmospherically illuminated with candlelight. The spa’s 16m indoor infinity pool is the perfect spot for a few leisurely lengths or curling up poolside with a book and lazing the day away.

The Thermal Suite

Inspired by Scandinavian therapeutic techniques, the various rooms of our thermal suite are designed to soothe, cleanse and invigorate. Why not relax and bask in the juniper-laced dry heat of our Finnish cabin.

In the salt steam room, breathe enriching mineral air, then cool down with a drench shower or, if you really need perking up, an ice experience will soon have you bright-eyed and refreshed.

The Spa Terrace

Outdoors, beside the pool, the spa terrace is home to our hydrotherapy hot tub where warm-water jets massage away stresses and strains on even the frostiest winter days.

The Green House

For post-treatment wind downs, soothing drinks, and light nutrition-focused lunches and snacks. The Greenhouse is our chilled-out spa café with its very own sun terrace where spa guests can relax and spend some time before returning to the rigours of the everyday world…

The Fitness Suites

For those wanting a workout or focusing on fitness, the House Spa has a personal training studio and a team of trainers available to help get you into shape, as well as a state-of-the-art gym fully equipped with cardio and weights.
