  • It was the world’s tallest building for four years, until 1913, when it was surpassed by the Woolworth Building in downtown NYC.
  • The building was originally designed by the architectural firm of Napoleon LeBrun, and modeled after the Campanile (the bell tower) in Venice, Italy.
